Taylor’s Birthday Fundraiser
“On December 10, 2021 Taylor’s accident changed the course of life for our family and community. Three days later when she passed away, a choice had to be made. We either had to find a way forward, (lean on the support from the tribe that was surrounding us, accept the love and guidance of others) or be consumed by the darkness. It was confusing, difficult, depressing and infuriating.
We realized quickly that the only way forward was to step into the light that Taylor exhibited her entire life. This foundation has not only become a way to support the organizations that Taylor shared her love with, but also to surround the community of people that never gave up on her. Her foundation has become a way for our grief to stay in the light. It’s given a way for Ty and Taytum to see a way through this and it’s given me a way to put one foot in front of the other each and every day.
The PICU here at Tampa General navigated those three days with care and compassion. When we started this fundraiser, I never thought we would be able to provide the Pediatric Trauma Care Course to the entire team. Some of the team, yes. Some of the equipment, sure! But never all of it. I was wrong. This fundraiser will now support the PTACC certification program for 1-full year and will cover the cost of all 30 PTACC students, providing nurses with training scholarships and the required equipment for the course.
Being able to come together as a community to help support TGH in this way has not been a small feat, and it would have been entirely impossible without your love and unwavering support. I’m not sure why I doubted this community. You always show up for us and for Taylor.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts….we love you.” - Alexa Parker (Taylor’s Mom)
